Morning folks,
Down from the mountains and onto the beach with a couple of haiku this morning…
Snow
Ponderous cornice
Overhangs snow-choked gully.
Muffled thumps below.
Salt
White wing tips tracing
Wide circles in salty skies.
Beady eyes assess.
Things I’ve read this week…
I’ve mentioned Tom Burton before, but if you haven’t been following his novel on WP you really should give it a look. Tom’s attention to detail in this week’s chapterΒ is entirely in keeping with the rest of his work. The historical research sits beautifully alongside an engaging and action-packed narrative. Tom is an active and supportive member of the author community on WP and if you haven’t followed him, then now’s the time.
Dwight L. Roth is an American poet whose site you will find yourself scrolling down for an indeterminate amount of time, such is the quality and variety of poetry thereon. It really is one of those WP sites that you click onto as a matter of course when a new post pops up on your timeline. I absolutely love Dwight’s work and his site really is candy for the reader in you.
*Thanks for reading, folks. Images courtesy of ClaudeallevaΒ and Maxpixel.*
Matthew Richardson is a writer of short stories. His work has featured in Gold Dust magazine, Literally Stories, Near to the Knuckle, McStorytellers, Penny Shorts, Soft Cartel, Whatever Keeps the Lights On, and Shooter magazine. He is an absentee member of the Glasgow Writers Group, a PhD student at the University of Dundee, a lucky husband, and a proud father.
Not necessarily in that order
Love your haiku! And yes, Dwight Roth is an impressive writer. Thanks much for visiting my blog so I’d know to hop over here and see what you’ve got going π

Glad you’re looking forward to it! It’s another tribute to April Duncan of ‘A Woman is A Poem’ – she’s been a wonderful supportive friend whom I’ve recently got to know & her poetry’s brilliantly vivid. She’s well worth checking out!

The sound in the first, wow, I could hear it… the sun and frisky salt air in the second, I could smell it… so good, and the perfect pairing. Gratitude β€οΈ π for the daiku fix π β€οΈ

Thanks so much as always Nadine. Sometimes struggle with getting the right two together but it seemed quite nice today to swoop down from the mountains onto the sea!

I truly loved it and think the pairing is perfect!! Do you have this kind of scenery just near you where you live? We used to live by the sea and mountains, near Vancouver in Canada. So it all felt a bit like home.

My folks live right at the beach so we get down there on a regular basis. Great for the kids who absolutely love it!
