Haiku – Spindled and Smoky

Some Thursday haikus for your delectation or otherwise…

Spindled

Thick-thighed English oak

Or spindled silver birch bones.

Each skywards stretching.

Haiku – Chalk and Sledge

Morning all. Two haikus this Thursday…

Chalk

Chalk

Grey-faced mirror blink.

Foil peeled back. Plastic pods pushed.

Teeth crunch into chalk.

Haiku – Dune and Contrail

Morning all. Two haikus for consumption.

Dune

Dune

Cold, wind-whipped outpost.

Sand spills through quivering grass,

Clumped against the tide. Continue reading “Haiku – Dune and Contrail” →

Haiku – Wisp and Halo

Morning folks. Just a couple of haikus…

Wisp

A giant’s last trace

Scudding high on azure sky.

Sun-scorched to a wisp.

Haiku – Marble and Throb

I’m pretty sure that’s the first time those two words have been put together as the title of a piece of creative writing, and probably for good reason! Here are a couple of wintery haikus regardless…

Haiku – Breath and Dawn

Two little snippets this morning…

Breath

Heavy-laden line.

Damp sheets droop under fall skies.

Not a breath of wind. Continue reading “Haiku – Breath and Dawn” →

Haiku – Snuffle and Yawn

Dug out a couple of haikus this morning…

Snuffle

Crooked, root-beamed vault

Between oak knees bald and bowed.

Snuffles from within. Continue reading “Haiku – Snuffle and Yawn” →

Haiku – Crease and Rust

Morning all,

a couple of haikus for consumption this morning…

Haiku

Crease

Rain bobs battered leaves

Waxen creases burst their banks

Roots greedily drink.

Haiku - rust

Rust

Frost-dampened sawdust

coats paint tins and pots. Ivy

tendrils ‘round rusted lock creep.

Haiku – Billow

An ethereal little haiku today on the theme of ‘billow’…

Translucent billow

Current-borne, through seaweed drawn

Tentacles trail long.

Grey

A little haiku this morning on the theme of ‘Grey’…

Grey smooth-shattered shale

Huddled high in wave-lashed caves

Sea foam flecks strike dark.
