Slow parabola
Of oxbow lake, speaking to
Thwarted ambition.

Stretch
Autumn-stilled stretch
Of gunmetal grey canal,
Of arrowed towpath.

The “parabola” and “thwarted ambition”–juxtaposed with an “arrowed towpath”–were all delightful bits of consciousness expansion, Matthew. Always enjoyable.
Thanks Annie. As I was writing this I was thinking of some lovely Autumn walks!
Well done, Matthew. Composing Haiku poetry is such a good writing discipline.
Thanks Libby. I do enjoy working to the rigid structure.
love both haiku — and the photos: that towpath looks amazing —
Thanks John. I try to use artists’ work where I can, but couldn’t quite find what I wanted for the towpath so used WP’s AI image tool.
