Bristle and Mulch | Haiku

Morning folks,

whilst I usually like to utilise alliteration or assonance in my double-haiku titles, this week’s creations simply wouldn’t go that way, hence the below, slightly idiosyncratic, pairing…

A field of wheat against a blue sky

Bristle

Bristled, finger-brushed,

Wind-shifted and sun-beaten.

Pale green to yellow.

Mulch

Plant pot remains, damp

Cuttings and dinner leavings.

From messy to mulched.

  1. don’t know how I missed this one, Matthew but glad I checked; yes, I liked the unusual pairing and the unusual subject matter; the photos complement the text perfectly; I love the economy of the texts, especially the domestic tang of the second, and its alliterative last line —

      1. Ah, is it the Richardson compost pile of which you write? I missed this one too—and I can’t find your work in Reader. But I’ll keep tracking you down. Every piece is a pleasure to read.

      2. The Richardson compost heap is in dire need of turning over before the autumn haha! That’s really weird re the reader – hopefully it’s just one of these WP glitches that sorts itself out.

      3. No longer a worry. After a year of problems accessing emailed posts, I can now reach most posts that way. WP seems determined to limit, but not eliminate, my viewing options. (!?)
