We’re ice-bound in Scotland at the moment – some appropriate haikus as follows…

Spidered
Spidered creep across
Night-chilled glass, untouched by the
Hill-hidden sunlight.

Still
Frozen and fat balls and
Frost-fingered nyger, hanging
Still, in the chill air.

‘spidered creep’ is an excellent metaphor for what your evocative pic shows; had to look up ‘niger’ to appreciate the second one ; stay warm and dry, Matthew from John in sunny, warm South Australia 🙂

I also had to look up nyger, which looks like the thistle we feed our goldfinch, but apparently is different. Although these are lovely as always, I’m hoping you’ll soon see a bit of a temperature rise!

Thanks. Apparently it’s supposed to attract goldfinches, although I’m yet to see evidence of any on our feeder!

We were. Jumpers, the portable gas fires on the go, and plenty of broth. I’m not looking forward to it getting cold again. Hope you all stay snuggly!
