Summer and Sea | Haiku

Summer takes two different forms in this week’s haiku…

A mountain scene with traces of snow left under the sun.

Summer

Retreating into

shadowed corries and high crags –

summer snow, fleeing.

The sea on a calm day.

Sea

Flat, viscous – lulling

fishermen into thinking

the sea is their friend.

Thanks for reading folks. Recent short stories include ‘Deposition‘ and ‘The Worst Part‘.

  1. The second poem has a foreboding twist at the end, like many of your short stories. The first would fit nicely in a coffee table book of micro poetry. My nod goes to haiku #2–vintage Richardson. 🤗
