I’ve been lucky enough to get another story published by the fine folks at Literally Stories.
‘The Silver-Lined Ridge’ is a tale of one man’s journey up Everest, but Ralph Nilsen is no ordinary mountaineer…

I am fascinated by your storytelling choices in this well-researched story, Matthew. You’ve opened a world that’s unfathomable to me and dropped me right into it, where I could feel the strains and decision-making and selfishness and folly and determination. And somehow your empathy infused George’s tragic journey with a bizarre heroism (despite the irony that his actions inevitably burdened the sherpas after all).

Thanks Annie. This was a longer haul one for me but I loved doing the research for it. So many narratives on that relatively small piece of land!

Congratulations, Matthew; a great read ; perhaps your best that I’ve seen. I feel for Ralph but more for his daughter. And that legend of Mallory !
