Silver and Skein | Haiku

We’re moving from the log burner into the still spring air with a couple of haiku…

A dog sleeping near a wood-burning stove with blue flames in a moonlit room.

Silver

The soft salt-blue flame

waxing weak underneath damp

silver birch kindling.

Slender silver birch trees with white bark leaning in a misty, fern-covered woodland.

Skein

Bare branches carding

through damp skeins of mist. Waiting

for wind to pick up.

Thanks for reading folks. Recent short stories include ‘Shift‘ and ‘The End of the Day‘.
