Babble and Burst | Haiku

A couple of Halloween/Fireworks Night-adjacent haiku…

Halloween porch with pumpkins, candy, ghosts, and “TRICK OR TREAT” sign

Babble

Babble of voices

at the door. Enter bad jokes,

exit rustling sweets.

People gathered around a bonfire beneath colorful fireworks in a rural landscape

Burst

A bonfire’s fierce heat

and bursting colours against

the quickening dark.
